These
days, Cancun
is considered one of the most important cities in
Mexico because it represents an important tourist business
that is so important in Mexico's economic structure.
The population in the city is almost evenly bisected into
two groups; those dedicated
to tourist economy, and the other, which specializes in
trades such as construction (housing and hotels).
There are several areas in which the population converges.
One such area, the less-populated of the them, is the hotel zone. This area
is designated as the section of
the island where the majority of the hotels, restaurants,
and tourist business are. Another zone is considered the
city area, better known as Downtown. Here, the population is
the most concentrated and the most active. The majority of
those who reside in this area have different and regular
activities; city jobs, banks, movies, theaters, offices,
commercials, stores, etc. Activities not unlike most other
suburban cities of the world.
Lastly, the rural zone allows its residents to enjoy the
more simple country activities,
like harvest, poultry, and agricultural business. In this
area, the fishing and other commercial oceanic activities have
just started to be widely promoted.
